Reporting to the Director of Shared Services, you will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating a diverse portfolio of business, digital, and strategic initiatives. This role is about bringing structure to the organization’s projects—formalizing processes, establishing governance, and delivering accurate insights through dashboards and executive-level reporting. You’ll work cross-functionally with multiple departments, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of cross-functional projects
- Coordinating portfolio management processes, including project intake, scoping, prioritization, and resource requests
- Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers

- Facilitating governance activities such as steering committees, status reviews, and executive briefings
- Driving collaboration across business units, IT, and external vendors to ensure project alignment with organizational goals
- Overseeing consistent use of project management tools such as Microsoft Planner, Project, SharePoint, and Excel
- Mentoring junior staff and promoting project management best practices across the organization
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and maturity in project delivery
- Supporting strategic projects involving IT system implementation, economic development, lands and resources, and government/legislative priorities
About You
To qualify, you will need a strong background in project management methodologies and advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 project tools. A minimum of 7 years of experience managing or coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder projects, along with a Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field will also be essential.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) or comparable senior-level delivery experience
- Experience with portfolio or program management in cross-functional environments
- Background working with political constructs, government, or First Nation organizations
As our ideal candidate, you will bring excellent stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to build alignment across departments, and the confidence to produce and present high-quality dashboards and executive summaries. You are detail-oriented yet strategic, and motivated by building structure. With strong problem-solving abilities, risk mitigation skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication, you will succeed in this role and thrive within our collaborative, solutions-focused culture.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned project professional who thrives in cross-functional environments, enjoys formalizing processes, and is eager to shape how Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation delivers its projects and strategic priorities.
